Why we don't carry Deva Curl products anymore

I’m sure everybody’s heard about the Deva Curl scandal that has been going on for months now. Being a major curly hair brand, this has come to shock all of us. Here’s the juice on what’s been going on.

Deva Curl being a huge curly hair brand that it is and the inventor of the curly girl method(and the best selling brand on our store) has been slapped with law suits and several complaints from women who use these products religiously. Complaints like dandruff, hair fall and loss of curl pattern were at the top of the list. Influencers, hair bloggers and Youtubers like Ayesha Malik who was a Deva Curl brand ambassador released a YouTube video advising their subscriber not to buy any Deva Curl products because she has been experiencing similar results.

This outrage in the curl community has caused Deva Curl to respond to these allegations releasing a statement saying that their products have been tested for safety and has passed these tests.  “We don’t speculate on why some people are attributing the challenges with their curls to our products,” the statement reads. “As part of our ongoing commitment to product safety and the satisfaction of our Deva Community, we are conducting additional testing with an independent party.”

Deva Curl has also announced that they have created “The Professional Curl Care Council” in which medical professionals, dermatologists, industry experts and hair professionals will be featured to better address the needs and concerns of Deva Curl customers. Along with the input of the council members, the brand states that it will be offering Curl Care resources for curl and scalp health, though no other details were provided at this time.

This is a developing story, we will keep you updated. But until then, Beauty by Promise will not be selling Deva Curl products anymore. Our customers safety and satisfaction is a priority.
