Transitioning Hair Guidelines
Based on the requests and questions we've been getting, a lot of you have been asking about tips and tricks on hair care when it comes to transitioning hair. Keeping it short and simple, there is no better person to ask other than Shama, curly hair expert from curlyncoily.com/blog and here's what she has to say:
BE CREATIVE
Find yourself suitable transitioning hairstyles to blend your natural hair growth with your damaged ends and stick to them like twist outs , braid outs , flexi rods sets.
BE PATIENT
There is no specific timeline for when you should big chop your hair. Some people rather wait and have longer hair than big chop and have shorter hair
AVOID TEMPTATIONS
By Temptations I mean blow dryers and chemical treatments . Trust me ! it is not worth it as it can be a major setback during your natural hair journey
DON'T RUSH
DO not skip deep conditioning your hair . After all it is called " Wash Day " for a reason so do not rush the steps.
A CLEAN SCALP
In this period of time your main focus is stimulating hair growth. Make sure your scalp and hair is clean to promote hair growth and eliminate product buildup.
LOC vs LCO
Find yourself a moisture retaining method and stick to it . LCO method is liquid , cream , oil vs LOC method is liquid , oil , cream .
COVER YOUR HAIR
Make sure your night routine is in place , cover your hair with a satin or silk scarf or cap and make sure you use satin pillow and not cotton pillow , the same applies to towels eliminating the use of cotton towels with microfiber towels to reduce dryness and frizziness.
